The Deeper Meaning of Aloha
ALOHA is a Hawaiian word that most people recognize as meaning “hello” or “goodbye.” ALOHA has a much deeper meaning. It is a spiritual and compassionate way of living.
In the Hawaiian language words are made of smaller root words that when connected not only describe the physical character of the thing described but could have up to seven layers of deeper meanings. Words also have a unique power (mana).
The root words of ALOHA are a, lo, ha, alo, and loha. By looking at the meanings of each root word of “aloha,” a deeper alternative meaning emerges: “the joyful exchange of energy in the present.”
This deeper meaning is more descriptive of the intent and concept of ALOHA. It means to live in joy in the present moment and let that joy within you reach out and activate the joy that lives within the other. It is a way of looking at the world and being grateful for the abundance of life. It embraces the true meaning of family and recognizing your important place in the world.
The teachings of Huna are filled with such wisdom, deeper understandings of consciousness, and practical ways of strengthening relationships within the self, with others, and the world.
